Do you know someone who can help test our survey questions?
We’d like to talk to older adults and adults with physical disabilities who receive state-funded services and would be willing to answer some questions for a face-to-face survey. People who agree to participate will be compensated for their time ($40). Can you suggest someone who’d be willing to speak to us?

What are we testing?
We are testing some of the questions from the National Core Indicators-Aging and Disabilities™ (NCI-AD™) Adult Consumer Survey to see how they work and whether they make sense to people.

What is the National Core Indicators-Aging and Disabilities (NCI-AD) Adult Consumer Survey?
The NCI-AD Adult Consumer Survey is a face-to-face survey conducted with older adults and adults with disabilities receiving services and supports funded by their state. The Survey contains questions about people’s satisfaction with services and their quality of life. Data gathered using NCI-AD are used by state agencies to look at the quality of the services they’re providing and how they can be improved. For more information see: www.NCI-AD.org

How can I help?
You can help us by recommending older adults and adults with disabilities who would make good candidates and be willing to sit down with us and review the questions. We expect that each meeting will take about an hour and will be scheduled when it is convenient for the person. People who participate will receive $40 for their time.

If I recommend someone to participate, what will they have to do?
People who agree to participate will be asked to respond to several questions from the NCI-AD Adult Consumer Survey and some follow-up questions about what those questions meant to them. All responses will be kept anonymous and confidential.

Who would be a good candidate to participate?
We would like to talk to people who would normally be eligible to participate in the NCI-AD Survey:

  • Older adults (over 55) receiving long-term services funded by their state or a federal program.
  • Adults (over 18) with physical and other disabilities receiving long-term services funded by their state or a federal program.

Because of the kinds of questions we are testing, we specifically would like to talk to:

  • People who have paid support staff (could be a paid family member).
  • People who are involved in planning their services.
  • People who don’t have a job.
  • People living in a range of residential settings, including on their own, in family homes, in assisted living facilities, in adult group and foster homes, and in nursing facilities.

If you can recommend someone, please contact (or ask the participant to contact) us at:
